Former Gov. Scott Walker Joins National Taxpayers Union Board of Directors

National Taxpayers Union (NTU) President Pete Sepp on Monday announced former Wisconsin two-term governor Scott Walker has joined the organization’s Board of Directors.

Walker, who served as governor from 2011 to 2019, built a national reputation for taking on tough fiscal challenges. Under his leadership, Wisconsin enacted more than $500 million in tax cuts, maintained balanced budgets, and limited the demands of public-sector unions.

“Governor Walker has long been a bold visionary on issues of fiscal responsibility, the core of our mission,” Pete Sepp, President of National Taxpayers Union said. “We’re proud to welcome his proven expertise and unwavering commitment to taxpayers to our leadership team.”

Governor Walker is currently the president of Young America’s Foundation and previously served as a senior advisor to NTU. His public service career also includes time in the Wisconsin State Assembly and as the Milwaukee County Executive.

“I’m honored to join the Board of Directors at National Taxpayers Union,” Governor Walker said. “Throughout my career, I’ve fought to ensure government lives within its means and puts taxpayers first. NTU has been a national leader in that same fight, and I’m excited to help advance its mission to protect hardworking Americans from higher taxes and irresponsible spending.”

NTU works for a simple and fair tax system that enables prosperity for all and respects taxpayers’ civil rights, lean and efficient government services and regulations, sustainable fiscal policies to avoid national bankruptcy, and permanent limits on taxes, spending and debt.
