Tax cuts should always be in season for Montana

Just last year, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte delivered a huge tax cut for Montanans, both on individual rates and for businesses. But what should concern Montana’s Senators is renewing former President Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). High inflation that has been a staple of Bidenomics means that average Americans cannot afford not to act on a tax deal. The longer the Senate delays taking up the House-passed tax deal, which passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, the more difficult for families filing their taxes, and the less chance Republicans will have to renew the Trump tax cuts next year. Given the size and scope of the 2017 tax bill, if the Senate fails to pass a package now, it would suggest that Congress might not have the courage to pass a deal next year.
