WASHINGTON, D.C.-- National Taxpayers Union (NTU) on Thursday named U.S. Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) its inaugural Taxpayer Defender of the Month, an award recognizing leaders who go above and beyond to protect taxpayers through transparency, fiscal discipline, and principled leadership.
From Lubbock to Abilene and throughout West Texas, hardworking taxpayers will benefit from Rep. Arrington’s work to improve the One Big Beautiful Bill Act as Chairman of the House Budget Committee. The bill contains historic tax cuts, promotes American energy dominance, and begins the critical process of reining in excessive spending.
“Representative Arrington embodies the values this award was created to honor,” Brandon Arnold, Executive Vice President of National Taxpayers Union said. “He’s not afraid to get in the weeds on tax and budget issues, and he did much of the heavy lifting on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to make it better for taxpayers in Texas and across the country.”
“I’m honored to be named the first-ever Taxpayer Defender of the Month by the National Taxpayers Union,” said Chairman Arrington. “Folks in West Texas work hard, live within their means, and expect their government to do the same. As Budget Chairman, I’m laser-focused on reining in spending, rooting out woke and wasteful programs, reducing the cost of living for hardworking families, and returning power back to We the People — exactly what we’re delivering through the One Big Beautiful Bill.”
National Taxpayers Union created the Taxpayer Defender of the Month award to highlight lawmakers who pair policy expertise with courage and common sense. Each month, NTU selects one leader from across the country who demonstrates a clear, consistent commitment to limiting taxes, spending, and regulation at every level of government.
“Public servants like Rep. Arrington make life less taxing for all Americans,” Arnold said. “We’re honored to recognize him as our first Taxpayer Defender of the Month.”
