Mattie Duppler

Mattie Duppler is the Founder and President of Forward Strategies, a strategic consulting firm. She serves as the Senior Fellow for Fiscal Policy at the National Taxpayers Union, a nonpartisan advocacy group focused on budget and tax issues. She also sits on the board of the Center for a Free Economy.

Mattie’s analysis of budget issues is considered influential in federal lawmaking. She has considerable experience building cross-disciplinary coalitions, to significant success.

As the former Coalitions Director for the House Republican Conference, Mattie is a skilled relationship builder. Serving in that role until 2016, she focused on modernizing partnerships between Capitol Hill and third party allies.  Her work centered on developing and elevating the Conference Chair’s message to impact new, diverse audiences.

Prior to her role at the House Republican Conference, Mattie served as the Director of Budget and Regulatory Policy at Americans for Tax Reform. She also served as the Executive Director of ATR’s Cost of Government Center, which focuses on reducing government spending and fighting excessive regulation. Through coalition management, incisive analysis and an enhanced communications strategy, Mattie expanded Americans for Tax Reform’s focus and influence in a variety of critical policy areas.

A highly skilled communicator, Mattie has been a frequent panelist and featured speaker at events nationwide. She is a regular commentator on Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, CNN, MSNBC and has been a recurrent guest on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher. Mattie increased Americans for Tax Reform’s earned media exposure by over 100 percent, helping the firm reach diverse, new audiences.

Mattie's work has been featured and cited in a variety of notable outlets, including Forbes, POLITICO, NPR, National Review, The Hill, Roll Call, The Washington Examiner, The Federalist, PBS and BBC.

She has received recognition as a leader in her field, being named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2015 and the Red Alert Politics Thirty Under Thirty list in 2014.

A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, Mattie earned bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Philosophy, accelerating her coursework to graduate with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2008.
