NTU urges all Senators to vote as follows on Amendments to S. Con. Res. 11

As the Senate considers S. Con. Res. 11, the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2016, NTU urges all Senators to vote as follows:

  • YES” on Portman Amendment #322: This amendment would allow states to opt out of the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed  Clean Power Plan regulations, a potentially unconstitutional overreach on the part of the agency that would raise energy costs and increase unemployment.
  •  “YES” on Cassidy Amendment #341: This amendment would expand offshore energy production.
  • “NO” on Mikulksi Amendment #362:  This “equal pay” amendment would expose businesses to costly lawsuits with unlimited compensatory and punitive damages, creating a chilling effect on salary decisions and hiring practices. A less flexible workplace with reduced employment opportunities would be a high price for an overstated problem.
  •  “NO” on Cornyn Amendment #357: This amendment, the President’s budget, would exacerbate America’s deficit and debt problems. The budget never balances despite proposing large, punitive new tax hikes that would hurt small businesses and families.
  • “NO” on Murray Budget Cap Elimination Amendment: This amendment would eliminate the Budget Control Act (BCA) caps for FY16 and FY17; funding the increased spending with tax hikes we can ill afford. The BCA has successfully helped to shrink the deficit, restrain spending, and is expected to help the economy according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Roll call votes on the above amendments to S. Con. Res. 11 will be included in our annual Rating of Congress.
