NTU’s Pete Sepp and Brandon Arnold Named “Top Lobbyists Of The Year”

National Taxpayers Union is honored that members of its leadership team, President Pete Sepp and Executive Vice President Brandon Arnold, have been named as top lobbyists of the year by The Hill. Arnold and Sepp have advocated tirelessly on key battles in the halls of Congress in 2019 and are proud to be recognized for their work.

“We’re known as the ‘taxpayers’ lobbyist,’ and we’re proud to have lived up to that name,” Sepp said. “2019 was the 50th anniversary of the founding of NTU, and we’re as strong now as we have ever been. We are well equipped to carry that legacy of advocating for taxpayers into our next fifty years.”

This was Arnold’s second consecutive year to have been named a top lobbyist by The Hill

“Our work throughout the year has resulted in positive outcomes for taxpayers,” Arnold said. “The Taxpayer First Act, which we worked on for months with legislators, experts, and staff, was one of the most substantial reforms to the Internal Revenue Service in the last few decades, and included multiple new legal protections for taxpayers. And from health policy to trade policy, our team has consistently delivered on behalf of the American taxpayer.”

NTU is ending the year by urging Congress not to stuff controversial special-interest provisions into their upcoming budget resolution, and to work to make sure that USMCA is passed in a way that will benefit American consumers and taxpayers.

“NTU’s federal affairs team was selected alongside some of the most powerful lobbying interests in the country,” Sepp said. “Competing with immense law firms and corporate trade associations is a challenge, but we have consistently punched above our weight.”

“Our constituents are not special interests but taxpayers themselves,” Arnold says, “and we’re proud to work for them.”
