NTU Statement on the Passage of H.R. 1, the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act”

Today, the House passed H.R. 1, the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.” National Taxpayers Union President Pete Sepp had this to say, “today's tax reform vote vividly shows how determination, cooperation, and deliberation can combine to make major progress on taxpayer priorities. The skillful and patient leadership of Speaker Ryan, Chairman Brady, and their colleagues have gotten America much further toward the goal of a fairer, simpler, and less burdensome tax system. The path to that destination won't be a straight line and won't be without challenges, but reaching our objective must never be in doubt. For the sake of middle-class families planning for their futures, small businesses trying to get ahead, and our job creators who want to compete more effectively abroad, tax reform must remain the most urgent fiscal policy task of this Congress. On to the Senate!"
