These days, consumers and taxpayers across Michigan continue to face a tremendous amount of economic pressure in affording the goods and services they need.
One of those must-have items is vision care. Millions of Michiganders who wear glasses and contact lenses are being denied cost-saving technology and services that would bring down the expense of their vision care. But there is an easy solution staring us in the face: must-pass legislation in the Michigan legislature that will bring Michigan up to date with 42 other states in the country. It’s time to finally allow online prescription renewal here in Michigan.
Since 2021, first as a senator and now as chairman of the House Health Policy Committee, Rep. Curtis VanderWall has led the fight in the Michigan Legislature on behalf of millions of Michiganders who wear contact lenses and glasses. His legislation, HB 4558 introduced every session since 2021, will allow eligible Michigan residents to get their prescriptions renewed online and ensure they have access to innovative technology that saves time and money.
