Taxpayer‘s Tab Updates Taxpayers with Senate Candidate Studies

Over the past two weeks, the National Taxpayers Union Foundation has been researching contentious Senate races being held across the country and have developed line-by-line analyses covering proposals candidates have made on the campaign trail. In this week's Taxpayer's Tab, NTUF brings you a quick summary of each study. The proposals were found in campaign websites, debate transcripts, and media reports. They have been determined to affect federal spending, either by increasing or cutting current spending levels, and were cross-referenced with corresponding legislation and independent sources. By using reports from groups like the Congressional Budget Office and our own BillTally database (containing thousands of Congressional bills), NTUF was able to score statements campaigning to be their state’s next U.S. Senator. However, some of the proposed items could not be quantifiably scored but were still included in the reports.

NTU Foundation has released studies covering the following Senate candidates:

California

  • Barbara Boxer
  • Carly Fiorina

Colorado

  • Michael Bennet
  • Ken Buck

Florida

  • Charlie Crist
  • Kendrick Meek
    Marco Rubio

Illinois

  • Alexi Giannoulias
  • Mark Kirk

Pennsylvania

  • Joe Sestak
  • Pat Toomey

Leading up to November 2nd, NTUF will continually update taxpayers through the Foundation’s Twitter feed (@NTUF) and on NTUF’s Campaign Headquarters, located on NTUF’s homepage.
