August Taxpayer‘s Tab Snapshot Shows More Spending

With a new month comes a summary of the previous. Throughout August, NTU Foundation researchers were hard at work scoring introduced Congressional bills under the BillTally framework. We scored 280 total bills, 184 House and 96 Senate bills. How much would it cost or save you if every bill were enacted today? Check out the “By The Numbers” section for a summary of August’s BillTally research.

Like our July Snapshot, we have also updated the NTUF 111st Congress Savings Bills List (Excel Doc). Throughout the 111st Congress, NTUF compiles the bills which would cut government spending if signed into law. The current totals, not including overlapping measures or offsetting provisions, are $512.4 billion in the House and $203.7 billion in the Senate. Highlights can be found in the August Snapshot’s “Know Your Cut Bills” section.

In our “Stats” and “Friendship Circle” sections, NTUF lists the legislators who have introduced and cosponsored the most spending, cut, no cost, and most overall bills as well as similar categories for the “Most Friended” bills in both the House and Senate.
