Like many of you, I'm sitting in my living room right nowwatching election results with great pride in our nation. Thanks to the hardwork and dedication of millions of Americans like you, many long-shot fiscalconservative candidates were transformed into Members of Congress tonight.Though some races are still being decided as I type this, one thing is forsure: the next Congress will be dramatically more supportive of limitedgovernment, low taxes, and economic freedom.While this victory is an important one, we've still got along road ahead of us ... and the journey begins immediately. Our deficit fornext year alone is projected to be as much as $1.4 trillion. To put that intosome perspective, you could go on a $1 million spending spree for yourselfEVERY day and it would take you more than 3,800 YEARS to spend $1.4 trillion.My son, who just had his first birthday, can't even say the word"debt" yet but he owes more than $44,000.
You and I both know that this course is not onlyunsustainable, it's immoral. That's why I'm awake right now, instead ofsleeping soundly like my wife and son, typing out this email to thousands ofNTU activists and supporters like you across the country. I'm emailing you tosay thanks for all the work you've already done, and to ask you to keep up thefight.
We may have won one big battle tonight, but the struggleagainst big government will continue long after. While the makeup of Congresswill look different in January, Washington will still be teeming with specialinterests and politicians that have one thing in common: they want more of yourmoney to spend on their pet projects. Every union, association, and corporationhas hired-gun lobbyists fighting for them, but NTU will continue to be on thefront lines as your lobbyist, the "taxpayers' lobbyist" working toprotect you..
