A Time feature on the Federal Trade Commission’s anti-trust investigation into Google exposes the fragile case the agency has taken two years to build.

The New America Foundation explains how consumers are the likeliest losers when government goes after companies like Google in the name of antitrust law. NAF cites an NTU commissioned IBOPE Zogby International poll from earlier this year which found an astounding 79 percent of Americans disagreed with the government regulating search engines. 

The American people’s utter lack of enthusiasm for bringing a lawsuit against Google is mirrored in the attitudes of our elected officials, and not just along typical party lines: according to a recent blog from The Hill, Representative  Jared Polis, a Democrat from Colorado, has spoken out against the FTC’s possible lawsuit of Google calling it “woefully misguided.”
