Week 2 YouCut Winner

Last week, I mentioned the House YouCut initiative, which affords you the opportunity to vote on spending cuts you want to see the House enact. The first winner (or shall I say loser) was the new Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. Americans voted to cut the program, saving taxpayers $2.5 billion, but the measure failed when brought to the House floor for an up-or-down vote.

This week, 87,124 people voted to eliminate the proposed federal civilian employee pay raise of 1.4%, which would achieve $30 billion in savings. $30 billion, folks! Hardly a small chunk of change.

The House vote on the pay raise will occur tomorrow, but we need your help to ensure it receives bipartisan support. Call your Representative and tell them to listen to the American people by voting down the pay hike!

Our national debt just hit the the $13 trillion mark. Congress must make responsible fiscal decisions - however difficult - if they want to get our economy back on track.
