The Late Edition Strikes Back!: Taxpayers 1 - Media Matters 0, Obama's Deficit Speech

Today's Roundup of Taxpayer News!

NTU signed on to a letter urging the Treasury to scrap plans for a regulation that would require banks to report non-resident alien interest earned on deposits in American banks. This rule is a completely unnecessary measure that would push foreign capital outside the U.S. and infringe on the privacy of individuals.

U.S. News & World Report featured an editorial that took apart the President’s vague (seems to be a theme) speech on the federal deficit. In it Mary Kate Cary cites NTU data to help illustrate why the President’s only remotely specific proposal, massive tax increases, is a bad idea.

In case you missed it, NTU came to the defense of Fox News after the left-wing group Media Matters quibbled over Fox’s use of NTU’s report ‘Who Pays Income Taxes.’
