The Late Edition: NTU Urges Adherence to Fiscal Conservatism; Another Taxpayers' Friend

Today's Roundup of Taxpayer News!

NTU President Duane Parde and presidents of other limited government organizations wrote a letter to Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell urging him and other senators to work for limited government.

The key points of the letter were:

  1.  Keep net tax increases off the negotiating table
  2.  The problem is overspending, not under-taxing
  3.  No grand budget compromises if there are actual tax increases
  4.  Washington D.C.’s extravagant spending has led to the current debt crisis

Rep. Steve King received his Taxpayers' Friend Award for his efforts to reduce spending and taxes during the 111th Congress. NTU Executive Vice President Pete Sepp said, “If every lawmaker had voted as thoughtfully and carefully as he did… Americans would enjoy lower taxes, a smaller national debt and a better economy than they do today."
