NTU President Duane Parde has joined other conservative leaders in supporting the Hastert Rule, which would require any bill scheduled for a House vote to have the support of at least half of Republican House members. Read the full letter urging Congress to formally codify the rule here.
Rep. Pat Tiberi of Ohio speculated that the House Ways and Means Committee could approve legislation overhauling the U.S. tax code by the end of the year. Rep. Tiberi labeled the tax code "broken" and noted that the recent IRS scandals may finally spur lawmakers to reform.
