Tell State Legislators NO on Gas Tax Hike!

Dear Taxpayer:

As you know, a number of your elected state officials want to impose a 10-cent-per-gallon tax hike on gasoline, a 71 percent increase. Wyoming currently has the lowest tax rate in the region, and the second-lowest in the nation. This provides a distinct advantage for businesses, workers, citizens, and even tourists.

Wyoming already has enough money for roads. Over the past decade, legislators have doubled general fund spending from $1.5 million to $3.2 million and total spending from $4 billion to $8 billion.

As long as the state continues to increase spending on non-essential programs instead of focusing on the roads and highways that keep Wyoming's economy strong, gas tax hikes will do little to patch our potholes. It's time to take a stand against out-of-control spending!

Today, the gas tax bill passed first reading in the Wyoming House, but only by four votes. I urge you to contact your legislators as soon as possible, as the bill is likely to go to second reading tomorrow.

We still have a chance to stop this thing. Please contact your state legislators today and let them know that spending should be cut and re-prioritized before an expensive, job-killing gas tax hike is imposed. To find legislator contact information, please click HERE.
