Rep. Davidson Named Taxpayer Defender of the Month by National Taxpayers Union

National Taxpayers Union (NTU) on Wednesday named Representative Warren Davidson (R-OH) Taxpayer Defender of the Month for his work to combat waste, fraud, and abuse and repeal overbearing regulations.

Rep. Davidson introduced amendments to the 2027 budget resolution that would require Congress to significantly reduce the deficit by cutting waste.

The amendments include:

  • Strengthening eligibility verification for Affordable Care Act subsidies
  • Phasing out Medicaid provider taxes that allow states to shift costs to federal taxpayers
  • Increasing state SNAP cost-sharing and strengthening work requirements

He also championed the repeal of Beneficial Ownership regulations, which threaten privacy and disproportionately burden small businesses. While the Trump Administration recently exempted American businesses from the mandate, a future administration could reverse that decision. Rep. Davidson’s Repealing Big Brother Overreach Act would repeal the Corporate Transparency Act and permanently eliminate the reporting requirements.

NTU Executive Vice President Brandon Arnold (left) presented Rep. Davidson (right) with the Taxpayer Defender of the Month challenge coin in recognition of his work to combat waste, fraud, and abuse and repeal overbearing regulations.

“We are proud to select Rep. Davidson as our Taxpayer Defender of the Month. With the national debt now at $40 trillion, it is imperative that more members of Congress follow Rep. Davidson’s lead and work to reduce the deficit,” NTU Executive Vice President Brandon Arnold said.

The Taxpayer Defender award honors leaders who go above and beyond to protect taxpayers through transparency, fiscal discipline, and principled leadership.

“Washington’s deficit spending is out of control. Every dollar Congress borrows fuels inflation, erodes Americans’ purchasing power, and saddles future generations with more debt. Congress should cut waste before asking taxpayers to foot the bill,” Rep. Davidson said.

Each month, NTU selects one leader who demonstrates a clear, consistent commitment to limiting taxes, spending, and regulation at every level of government. Previous award winners include House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

Anyone can nominate a Taxpayer Defender of the Month on the National Taxpayers Union website.
