NTUF Launches Weekly Newsletter Highlighting BillTally Research

Today, the National Taxpayers Union Foundation launched the Taxpayer's Tab – a weekly newsletter for up-to-the-minute research from the BillTally Project. Beginning in 1991, NTUF has computed the legislative spending agendas of Member of Congress by analyzing the costs – and savings – of the bills that they sponsor and cosponsor. The goal is to provide taxpayers with objective information about what Congress wants to do with your tax dollars in an open and transparent manner.

Each week, NTUF will publish updates on the week's most and least expensive bills, the ones with the most cosponsors, and a few bills we've termed Wildcards – bills that we think you might find interesting.

In our inaugural issue, we cover:

  • HR 5476/S 3079, Building Star Energy Efficiency Act
  • HR 4960, To eliminate sweetheart deals under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
  • HR 5462/S 4279, Birth Defects Prevention, Risk Reduction, and Awareness Act
  • S 3436/HT 4031, A bill to amend the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to establish a motor efficiency rebate program
