NTU Hosts Tax Reform Event with Senate Republicans, White House Officials and Conservative Coalition Leaders

The energy on Capitol Hill was palpable today as National Taxpayers Union (NTU) hosted a packed event featuring remarks from Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conaway, twelve United States Senators, as well as leaders of conservative groups to express unified support for comprehensive tax reform.

Mattie Duppler started the event by noting, “comprehensive tax reform can get our economy moving again.”

In his remarks, NTU President Pete Sepp made clear why tax reform is important: “Tax reform is all about delivering on promises that have been made for a long time” but without follow-through. Sepp went on to stress that “by standing still, or even making incremental changes, we are only falling further behind the rest of the world. Taxpayers cannot afford for Congress to wait to take action on tax reform.”

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin stressed that tax reform can ignite the American economy in two important ways: by making American businesses competitive and putting money back in the pockets of the middle class.,

Kellyanne Conway spoke about how tax reform benefits “job-seekers, job-creators and the job-holders.” She went on to discuss how tax reform can help Americans “realize their version of the American dream by creating a stronger economy.”
