The National Taxpayers Union applauds the House of Representatives passing a package of three “Tax Reform 2.0” bills. Making permanent the individual tax cuts that were passed in last year’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, as well as adding new provisions that save money for middle-class families and businesses, will be a boon to the economy and to the fairness of the tax system.
“Making tax relief permanent is an obvious win for taxpayers, and expanding retirement and education savings accounts will give American families more flexibility in their financial planning - and at the end of the day, more money in their pockets,” said Brandon Arnold, NTU Executive Vice President. “The members of Congress who voted for this package of bills can be proud that they’re fighting for middle-class Americans.”
The National Taxpayers Union supported the TCJA as a piece of landmark legislation that took enormous steps toward fixing America’s broken tax code, and this package that would make those cuts permanent and add more provisions that will benefit American taxpayers is another step forward toward a fairer and flatter tax code.
