Well, if you were at all unhappy with the selection of House committee chairmen for the 112th Congress, you should know that fiscal conservatives won a huge victory in the appointment of committee memberships.
According to The Hill: “Most of the 22 House Republican freshmen-to-be selected to sit on much-coveted, A-list committees won their races with Tea Party backing. The House Republican Steering Committee last week added the incoming members to the rosters of four powerful committees: Appropriations, Ways and Means, Energy and Commerce and Financial Services.”
Almost one half of the new Republican spots on the Appropriations Committee were given to incoming Tea Party-backed freshmen, including Alan Nunnelee (MS), Steve Womack (AR), Kevin Yoder (KS), and Tom Graves (GA). Additionally, proven conservatives Jeff Flake (AZ) and Cynthia Lummis (WY) will serve on the powerful Appropriations Committee.
I’d encourage you to check out the article for details on other appointments for the four committees mentioned above. Membership for the remaining committees will be determined later this week.
