YES to defund the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

NTU urges all Representatives to vote“YES” on H. Con. Res. 35, to defund the Patient Protection and Affordable CareAct (PPACA), introduced by Representative Rodney Alexander.

Frominception to final passage, NTU has vehemently opposed the health care lawbecause of its enormous tax hikes, inclusion of the “individual mandate,” andadditional layers of costly big-government bureaucracy. This onerous law doesnothing to achieve its stated goal of bending the cost curve, instead pushinghealth care costs and the deficit to unprecedented and unsustainable levels.

PPACAis not real health care reform. It is a political ploy, chock full of gimmicksand tricks, in an attempt to hide the enormous expansion of the federalgovernment that would be pushed onto America’s already overburdened taxpayers.Congress must start over and enact reforms that put health care choices in thehands of patients and that focus on lowering costs through the introduction ofmarket forces.

Tocreate the space for a fiscally responsible alternative Congress must take thefirst step and eliminate funding for PPACA. Roll call votes on H. Con. Res. 35 will be significantly weightedin our annual Rating of Congress and a “YES” vote will be considered thepro-taxpayer position.
