Shout Out to the Buckeye Institute

Our friends at the Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions launched its new website on Friday.  The website, which can be found here, brings significantly more information to Ohioans.  It contains over 2 million records and 25 million pieces of data!

Buckeye's new website brings more transparency and accountability to Ohio government.  Of particular interest due to the number of school levy requests on the ballot this month, there are several tools about teacher pay and school performance.  You can access the information that you need to make informed decisions.  Here are just a few things you'll find on the website:

·         The Better Days Ohio Project (county comparisons)

·         State Government Salaries

·         K-12 Public School Teacher Salaries

·         Pension Calculator

·         School Data

·         Lobbyist Database

Additionally, there is a link on the sidebar to OhioVotes.org.  This project provides concise descriptions of each bill and vote in the Ohio State Legislature.  Users may search these by legislator, category, and keyword.  Users also have the ability to comment about the information and engage in discussions on the available forums.

Another component of the website is OhioWatchdog.org, which investigates and produces stories focusing on how the government is using taxpayer dollars.  It also includes information on political corruption, government accountability, and government transparency.
