NTU urges all Senators to vote “YES” on S.J.Res. 6. Introduced by Sen. Hutchison (R-TX), this resolution would reverse theFederal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) ill-advised “net neutrality”regulations that threaten to stifle innovation and development in the one-sixthof our economy that is dependent upon the Internet.

Overthe past 20 years the federal government’s largely hands-off approach toInternet regulation has yielded a dynamic and vibrant market that has deliveredcountless benefits to American businesses and consumers. In spite of thisunquestioned history of success, a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals thatthe FCC did not have the regulatory authority to impose net neutralityrestrictions, and wide bipartisan opposition to the scheme, the FCC hasnevertheless plowed ahead with the regulatory power grab.

Ifallowed to continue, the results could be disastrous for taxpayers. The FCC’smeddling could threaten further investment in wireline and wirelessinfrastructure and it could pave the way for future efforts to regulate pricesor engage in widespread Internet taxation schemes that would further harm theInternet’s growth.

To prevent these outcomes and preserveinnovation and investment in the Internet, NTUurges all Senators to vote “YES” on S.J. Res. 6, which will be significantly weighted in our annualRating of Congress.
