"No" on H.J. Res. 79, the continuing resolution (CR) to make additional appropriations through November 18, 2011.

NTU urges all Representatives to vote“NO” on H.J. Res. 79, the continuing resolution (CR) to make additionalappropriations through November 18, 2011.

Earlierthis year, NTU expressed support for passage of the “Path to Prosperity” BudgetResolution, a plan with many innovative approaches that would help to graduallyachieve fiscal sustainability. Unfortunately, with only one appropriations billhaving been taken up by the Senate, Congress was once again unable to completethe traditional budget process. Now, the proposed CR would veer from the Pathto Prosperity by funding the government at a level $24 billion higher than thediscretionary spending caps agreed to in the House-passed Budget Resolution.

NTUshares the sentiment of Rep. Flake, Rep. Lummis, and more than 50 other Memberswho signed a letter urging House leaders to hold the line on Fiscal Year 2012spending levels. With the national debt steadily growing and President Obamaproposing even more debt-financed stimulus spending, Congress must continue toprotect taxpayers by maintaining their focus on reducing deficits throughexpenditure restraint.

Roll callvotes on H.J. Res. 79 will be significantly weighted in our annualRating of Congress and a “NO” vote will be considered the pro-taxpayerposition.
