The Late Edition: NTU Pension Report on Weiner Should Inspire More than Just Good Headlines

by Douglas Kellogg / /

NTU’s recent calculation of former Representative Anthony Weiner’s pension eligibilities spread like wildfire, from the New York Post, Newsmax, and the Daily Caller, to the U.K.’s Daily Mail (and many more places). At least Weiner’s scandal can draw some attention to the cushy benefits Congressmen receive regardless of how they tarnish their office.

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) has introduced legislation which would increase the number of felonies that cost legislators their pension – while not directly applicable in the Weiner case, now might be a good time to ensure that should anyone one-up the former Brooklyn representative by committing a felony, taxpayers will not be sending them checks in the slammer.
