The Late Edition: NTU Pension Report on Weiner Should Inspire More than Just Good Headlines

NTU’s recent calculation of former Representative AnthonyWeiner’s pension eligibilities spread like wildfire, from the NewYork Post, Newsmax, and the DailyCaller, to the U.K.’sDaily Mail (and many more places). At least Weiner’s scandal can draw someattention to the cushy benefits Congressmen receive regardless of how theytarnish their office.

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) has introduced legislation which wouldincrease the number of felonies that cost legislators their pension – while notdirectly applicable in the Weiner case, now might be a good time to ensure thatshould anyone one-up the former Brooklyn representative by committing a felony, taxpayers will not be sending them checks in the slammer.
