In the debate on H.R. 2112, NTU Encourages Senators to Vote "YES" on Amendment 739.
October 19, 2011
In the debate on H.R. 2112, the Agriculture, CJS, and Transportation Appropriations bill, numerous amendments will be offered. Although many of these involve fiscal matters on which NTU will be commenting, at this point in the process we ask Senators to:
Vote “YES” on Amendment 739. Introduced by Sen. McCain (R-AZ), this amendment would prohibit funding for lower-priority transportation projects such as landscaping, rehabilitation of historic transportation buildings, and the establishment of transportation museums. This would ensure that scarce transportation resources are not wasted on projects that make do not contribute to increasing the capacity or quality of our infrastructure system.
Roll call votes on Amendment 739 will be significantly weighted in our annual Rating of Congress.
