Washington is one of seven states with no personal income tax, a favorable attribute when contrasted with high-tax neighbor Oregon. But Washington’s sales tax is high, making across-the-border shopping trips attractive to Washingtonians. The lack of a state income tax is a good start, but further tax and spending reform is necessary for the Evergreen State to attract jobs and population. Check back to our Washington page often for more information on state and local taxpayer groups, our work on behalf of taxpayers in the state, and contact information for your lawmakers.
