America's independent, non-partisan advocate for overburdened taxpayers.

NTU and MarylandMD

Apparently Maryland’s proximity to Washington, D.C. is causing the federal government’s proclivity to tax-and-spend politics to rub off on the Free State. In 2007, the state enacted a sweeping tax hike package, which increased the levy on personal income, corporate income, sales, and tobacco taxes – to the tune of $1.4 billion per year. Maryland was not a competitive state to begin with; now it is one of the nation’s least competitive. NTU will continue to fight for tax and spending reform on behalf of our more than 7,100 members here; in the meantime, be sure to check back to our Maryland page often for information on state and local taxpayer groups, our work on behalf of taxpayers in the state, and contact information for your lawmakers.
