2012 General Election Ballot Guide: New Hampshire

Statewide Measures

  • (+) New Hampshire voters will have an opportunity to pass CACR 13, a constitutional amendment banning the implementation of an income tax. The measure requires a two-thirds majority to win passage. The absence of an income tax has long been a source of pride for many residents, and activists with the citizen group Granite State Taxpayers contend that enshrining this policy in the Constitution could help prevent politicians from creating an income tax in the future.
  • (+) Question 3 on the ballot, if passed, would convene a constitutional con- vention to revise, alter, or amend the State Constitution. A convention could present an opportunity to limit the size and scope of the state government.
