State Government Affairs Manager

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) seeks an energetic and talented individual to manage lobbying, grassroots organizing, coalition building, communications, and policy development on state and local issues, with a heavy focus on limited-government tax, budget, and regulatory policy.

The State Government Affairs Manager is responsible for advancing NTU's position on specific policy issues relevant to our mission of lower taxes and a smaller, more transparent government at all levels. This is done through letters to lawmakers, email alerts to our membership, op-eds and letters to the editor, testimony in state legislatures and other governmental bodies, radio interviews and comments in print media, and face-to-face meetings with lawmakers and their staff.

The State Government Affairs Manager is also responsible for managing grassroots outreach, serving as a liaison between NTU and our membership, state and local taxpayer groups, as well as tea party and other activists. As such, significant amounts of travel will be required for conferences and events across the country.

The State Government Affairs Manager would work with and report to the Vice President of Government Affairs, and the position is best suited for an individual with less than five years of experience in public policy and grassroots activism. Salary is commensurate with experience.
