New Tariffs.org Website Tallies Costs of Import Taxes by State, Household

National Taxpayers Union Foundation on Wednesday announced the launch of tariffs.org, a new website that breaks down tariff costs by state, import category, and per-household cost equivalent.

Each state page features a graph with the total cost of tariffs imposed by executive order, as well as tariffs imposed by statute. All state pages offer a downloadable report with the latest numbers, top import categories, and per-household equivalent. The site is a resource for taxpayers, business owners, policy researchers, and journalists.

“It’s important to visualize the weight of import taxes on each state,” Bryan Riley, Director of the Free Trade Initiative, said. “Tariffs are taxes paid by consumers, farmers, and manufacturers, and our hope is one day this site will show zero tariff costs per state.”

California and Texas paid the most in executive tariffs since January 2025. The hardest hit imports in those states were cars and trucks.

The site will update with the latest tariff data every quarter. Users can sign up to receive the latest numbers by state in their inbox as soon as they’re available. Data is provided by Trade Partnership Worldwide, an economic analysis and research firm.

National Taxpayers Union Foundation is the research and educational affiliate of National Taxpayers Union, showing Americans how they are affected by taxes, government spending, and regulations.
