Vote “NO”the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill.

NTU urges all Representatives to vote "NO" on H.R. 4899, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill. This legislation contains roughly $72 billion in "off-budget" spending that should be debated through the normal budget process. Furthermore, this "war" supplemental includes $35.4 billion for non-military purposes, including $10 billion for an Education Jobs Fund to temporarily bail out states with budget shortfalls, $5.1 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and $4.95 billion for the federal Pell Grant program.

For too long, Congress has abused the supplemental spending process to heap piles of spending onto the backs of overburdened taxpayers. Barring action to significantly reduce and fully offset the spending contained in this bill with program cuts elsewhere, taxpayers ask that you stand up for fiscal responsibility by rejecting this overloaded package.

Votes on H.R. 4899, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill, will be significantly weighted in our annual Rating of Congress.
