Senators Vote "NO" on S. 1451, the FAA Air Modernization Act

NTU urges all Senators to vote "NO" on S. 1451, the FAA Air Modernization and Safety Improvement Act.

NTU supports efforts to modernize air traffic control and encourage investment, but this legislation fails to effectively address reforms needed for the sustainability of safe and efficient air travel.

Most concerning is the inclusion of a pilot project that would allow certain airports to impose a higher Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) than allowed by law if the fee is collected from passengers by the airport directly and not an air carrier. Given our current economic climate, we cannot afford to further burden commercial passengers who already face total air travel tax loads of 20 percent or more.

A "NO" vote on S. 1451, the FAA Air Modernization and Safety Improvement Act, will be considered the pro-taxpayer vote in our annual Rating of Congress.
