The Taxpayer’s Tab for August 31 covers bills introduced largely by western Senators and Congressmen. At NTUF, we have discussed writing themed Tab issues but this week’s research seemed to do it all by itself. Bills which topped the highest and lowest cost lists just happened to involve legislators from California and Oregon, as well as one Representative from Michigan. Even though the bills were sponsored by lawmakers from the West, the change in US policy and regulations will be felt by everyone in every state.
Bills covered in Issue 9 include:
- HR 1500/S 210, Helping Families Afford to Work Act
- HR 4765/S 3082, A bill to amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize individuals who are pursuing programs of rehabilitation, education, or training under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to receive work-study allowances for certain outreach services provided through congressional offices, and for other purposes
- HR 5808, To amend the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to establish a public health insurance option
- S 3279, Small Business Environmental Stewardship Assistance Act
