NTU Applauds Unanimous ITC Decision on Aircraft Imports

According to Bryan Riley, Director of NTU’s Free Trade Initiative, “Americans dodged a bullet today with the announcement that Canadian-made Bombardier jets will be not subject to prohibitive import taxes. This is a welcome decision, especially coming just days after Americans were hit with new tariffs on washing machines and solar goods.”

Last year the U.S. Commerce Department proposed taxes on imported Bombardier C-Series jets. The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) next considered whether Boeing would be “threatened with injury” by Bombardier imports. Today, the ITC unanimously determined that “100- to 150- seat large civilian aircraft from Canada do not injure U.S. industry.”
