U.S. Needs "Credible" Debt Plan

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke was on Capitol Hill today and told Members of Congress that the U.S. needs a "credible" plan to deal with its mounting debt level.  Last week, Bernanke told the Dallas Chamber of Commerce that "unless we as a nation demonstrate a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility, in the longer run we will have neither financial stability nor healthy economic growth."  In response to Bernanke's statement in Dallas, NTU President Duane Parde emailed NTU members saying, "We cannot wait for Congress to heed Chairman Bernanke's call for fiscal responsibility in the "longer run." We must be willing to take action now."  You can read Duane's email here.
