As the House begins consideration of H. Con. Res. 112, the budget resolution, NTU urges Representatives to vote as follows:
• “YES” on Amendment #9, Republican Study Committee substitute: The RSC budget balances in five years without raising taxes by restraining spending, repealing “Obamacare”, simplifying the tax code, and implementing serious entitlement reform.
• “YES” on H.Con. Res. 112, Representative Ryan’s “Path to Prosperity” budget resolution: This budget is a serious first step toward long-term fiscal discipline, it implements real tax and entitlement reforms without adding to the burdens borne by American families and businesses.
• “NO” on Amendment #1, the Obama Budget: President Obama’s budget contains $2 trillion in tax hikes, a national debt that will grow to $26 trillion by 2022, and no serious entitlement reform.
• “NO” on Amendment #2, the Congressional Black Caucus substitute: Like Obama’s outline, the CBC budget grows government through increased spending, higher taxes, and unsustainable debt without reforming budget busting entitlements.
• “NO” on Amendment #13, the “Simpson-Bowles” substitute: Though the Simpson-Bowles Fiscal Commission made admirable efforts to reform entitlements, it also called for a $1.2 trillion tax increase and spending well above historical averages.
• “NO” on Amendment #1, the Progressive Caucus substitute: The “Budget for All” includes an enormous tax hike to pay for a $2 trillion “stimulus” plan while avoiding necessary structural reforms.
• “NO” on Amendment #12, the Democrat substitute: The Democrat substitute fails to substantially restrain spending, reform entitlements, stop ta hikes, and get our debt under control.
Roll call votes on H. Con. Res. 112, the budget resolution, will be significantly weighted in our annual Rating of Congress.
