Rhode Island
Rhode Island has one of the country’s most punitive tax climates. The top rates of both the personal and corporate income taxes rank in the top 10 highest in the nation. As of 2009, Rhode Islanders pay 10.2 percent of their income to state and local government. As a result, businesses and jobs will continue to flee the state. Rhode Island needs to embrace a fiscally conservative approach to government. NTU and our more than 1,100 Rhode Island members will continue to support pro-taxpayer policies. Check back here often for more information on state and local taxpayer groups, our work on behalf of taxpayers in the state, and contact information for your lawmakers. |
