Arizona
NTU’s more than 8,300 Arizona members will see their state add at least one new Congressional seat after the 2010 Census, thanks to a pro-growth tax climate that has added jobs, and thus population. Arizona’s Right to Work law and its lack of a death tax have helped it grow its population at a rate higher than any state other than Florida in terms of net domestic migration in recent years. But NTU members need to remain outspoken in defense of the state’s relatively low tax burden, as shown by recent attempts by Republican Gov. Jan Brewer to raise taxes by $3 billion. Be sure to check back to NTU’s Arizona page for information on state and local taxpayer groups, links to our work on behalf of taxpayers in the state, and contact information for your lawmakers.
