"YES" votes on the following amendments to H.R. 4487, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act

As the House begins consideration of amendments to H.R. 4487, the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, NTU urges Representatives to support those amendments that would help to restrain spending and address waste in Congress. To that end, NTU will consider “YES” votes on the following amendments to be the pro-taxpayer position:

Amendment #3: Gosar (R-AZ): This amendment would save taxpayers just over $3 million by freezing spending for the Botanic Garden at FY14 levels.

Amendment #4: Broun (R-GA): This amendment would save taxpayers $243,000 by freezing spending for the Capitol Visitor Center at FY14 levels.

Amendment #5: Duffy (R-WI): This amendment would save taxpayers almost $3.5 million by defunding the Open World Leadership Center Trust Fund. Eliminating expenditures related to the Trust Fund was cited by Senator Coburn’s (R-OK) 2011 “Back in Black” deficit reduction report as an opportunity for significant cost savings along with the recommendation  that private donors underwrite the program. Three years later, the need to prioritize spending is no less essential in light of our ongoing fiscal challenges.

Amendments #5 and #6: Hall (R-TX), McCaul (R-TX) and Wenstrup (R-OH): These two amendments would institute important reforms in the Congressional printing process, thereby reducing unnecessary spending as products are increasingly available digitally

Roll call votes on the above amendments to H.R. 4487 will be included in our annual Rating of Congress.
