Election Day 2014 is nearly upon us, and NTUF continues to bring taxpayers our unique research focusing on the agendas proposed on the campaign trail in several high-profile races around the country.
The latest Taxpayer's Tab features a summary of our findings from the Kansas Senate race, between incumbent Pat Roberts (R) and businessman Greg Orman (I). NTUF found that their agendas are separated by nearly $23 billion per year, and the implications for taxpayers could be significant.
- Senator Roberts proposed 15 policies that could impact spending, including 3 net increases, 3 net decreases, and 9 that were too vague for NTUF to definitively score. If his agenda items were to be enacted, federal spending would decrease by $17.8 billion per year.
- Greg Orman, running as an independent, proposed 25 policies -- including 4 spending increases and 21 unknowns. On net, his agenda would increase federal spending by $4.79 billion per year.
We have detailed information on each candidates' proposals, NTUF's study methodology, and further insights and analysis from the campaign trail available on our special candidate studies page.
