Giving Thanks

NTU Foundation would like to THANK YOU for your support and for spreading the word about our research. Thanks to your comments and shares online, letters to newspapers, and tax-deductible contributions, we can continue to study the latest proposals in Congress and shed light on what your elected officials would like to do with your hard-earned tax dollars.

Because of your support, NTUF staff has been able to accomplish a lot this year:

  • Getting Taxpayers the Information They Need: Through the BillTally project and five Senate candidate studies, Americans have a clear idea exactly what their elected officials want to do with the federal budget. Our experts spoke to thousands of citizens and political figures on reducing spending and lowering taxes.
  • Educating Americans on Tax Reform: A special research paper by Policy Analyst Michael Tasselmyer informed citizens on the risks of the federal tax system and offered reforms to shore up confidence and economic growth. And just this week, Mike teamed up with NTUF’s Director of Research Demian Brady on an in-depth study of the U.S. fiscal policy agenda advocated by the international organization known as OECD.
  • Bringing People Together: To the delight of activists and students from around the world, NTUF experts debuted our fun and wildly popular game Cards Against Liberty at the Conservative Political Action Conference, the International Students for Liberty Conference, and our own Milton Friedman Legacy Day. This is just one of the ways NTUF is attracting new and loyal fans.

What can NTUF accomplish in the last month of 2014? The possibilities are endless, but they aren’t “free.” With the generous support of taxpayers like you each year, the Foundation continues to produce research that makes headlines in national and regional newspapers and even your own Twitter feeds. These efforts require hundreds of man hours, phone calls, and extensive planning. Our grassroots education programs are succeeding, and the country relies on this vital research – but our budget is being stretched.

NTUF needs you to make a $20, $30, or a $50 tax-deductible contribution to help us finish 2014 strong. As legislators finish up the 113th Congressional term, we need to score the bills introduced at the last minute. We also need year-end funds in preparation to educate the new incoming Representatives and Senators about our legislative cost-management systems and cutting-edge research.

More specifically, the research at NTUF requires the best minds in the fields of economics, political science, and public policy. Here are the goals our top researchers need to reach -- with your help -- to finish out the year:

"As the only researcher in Washington, D.C. who has read every single bill introduced in Congress, I compile all of NTUF’s research into the BillTally project. The comprehensive research is America’s only look at what each of your Representative and Senators want to spend. I need your help so that I can update the BillTally database to give you the most up-to-date information available.” - Director of Research Demian Brady

“With the drive-by media citing conjecture and rhetoric instead of facts and unbiased background, I am constantly writing detailed articles and blog posts to clear up the misconceptions of the Left and Right. From incorrect budget numbers on the campaign trail to government meddling in the emerging private space industry, I need your support to write more clarifying explanations and to get the truth to those who need it most.” - Research & Outreach Manager Dan Barrett

“One of the ongoing projects that I work on at NTUF involves tracking the international travel of President Obama. Whenever he flies abroad, I’m right there calculating exactly how much his trips cost taxpayers, but I need your help. It takes a lot to fly the President around the world, but Americans are rarely given any transparent accounting of the costs involved. Your contribution would get me the resources I need to track down President Obama’s real travel costs.” - Policy Analyst Michael Tasselmyer

As you can see, your help could go a long way toward informing Americans on the issues that matter. With your $20, $30, or $50 tax-deductible contribution, NTUF can continue providing the vital tools that citizens, the media, and public officials need to understand the benefits of limited government.

THANK YOU for supporting NTU Foundation. In doing so, you encourage and inspire us to deliver our best research every day of the year.
